Sojourn in Strasbourg

Looking southwest from atop Notre Dame Cathedral

Hugging the German border along the Rhine River, the French city of Strasbourg has a distinct character that is a mixture of both French and German.  On my way southwest by train from Mainz, I spent an early fall day walking along cobblestone streets, taking in centuries of beautiful, well-preserved (or restored) architecture, and enjoying some hearty Alsatian cuisine.
